About and method

What this is

90:00 is a football time machine I designed and built. Type any year from 1900 to 2026 and it opens that year’s biggest moments: 430 of them across 126 years so far, plus the champions of the top five European leagues.

How it’s made

Most years are built from Wikipedia. For each year I take up to four of the most important finals played that calendar year, from the World Cup and continental championships down to the main domestic cups. The teams, score, extra time, penalties, venue, date and crowd come from the match summary on each final’s own Wikipedia article, and every sentence on the page is written from those facts alone. That article is linked as the source on every moment.

League champions come from Wikipedia’s list of champions for England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France, shown for the season that ended in that year.

Some years I write by hand and take further: 1974 tells the World Cup final in chapters, with photos from the Dutch National Archive. Early and wartime years have fewer moments because fewer finals were played or recorded. A year with nothing I can check says so rather than guessing.
